Prenuvo is a medical technology company that offers clinical-quality medical imaging for patient screening. At the time of this article, the primary website for Prenuvo was powered by Contentful. The marketing team found that this platform inhibited their ability to create marketing content quickly. The need for a Webflow companion website emerged as a temporary stopgap solution.
Prenuvo’s technology sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie. A single Prenuvo scan covers 26 regions/organs of the body at the clinical diagnostic quality, enabling them to screen for and diagnose more than 500 conditions, including most solid tumours at Stage 1. The future is now! We jumped at the opportunity when Prenuvo came to us requesting a small “share your story” Webflow website that could drop into their existing Contentful website.
Webflow for Enterprise Businesses
We absolutely love open-source systems; however, this doesn’t always work for our clients and their stakeholders. Some businesses require closed-source products for security requirements or simply prefer one system over the other. As full-stack programmers, we are always interested in helping our clients achieve their desired results – regardless of which system we use. In this case, the right solution for the job was Webflow.
Prenuvo’s existing system was built in Contentful. They required a solution that could handle the rigours of enterprise traffic and serve as a drop-in solution for a specific marketing website. This Webflow website would mimic the existing Contentful website, duplicating the header and footer and displaying the same look and feel in the main content area. The goal was to create a website that flowed between the two systems seamlessly. The user would never be aware that they had transitioned to a new website and back. We had previously done something similar between WordPress and Shopify for the Elk River Guide Company, so this was nothing new for us!
Customizing Webflow to Specifications
Webflow has certain limitations out of the box that need to be approached with some creativity. For instance, the video background in the masonry grid needed to be hosted off-site in various formats as a workaround and added as links in the CMS. The infinite scroll pagination was made a bit more complicated due to the Share Your Story CTA. This call to action has to always load in the final row. You kind of take these things for granted in WordPress and open-source systems because there are a million ways to accomplish the task. With closed source, you have to work with what you have and be a little creative.
Prenuvo x Hammerhead Webflow Collaboration
Webflow sounds great! How is it for collaboration between multi-functional teams? It’s incredible.
Greater Collaboration for Rapid Prototyping and Editing
Need to take something from prototype to live, crazy fast, while satisfying numerous stakeholders? Webflow can do that!
Webflow allows for multiple content editors to be active within a page on the CMS while a designer is actively designing the website. This helps with content flow and allows for increased collaboration on a single page. Think of it like a LAN party (I’m dating myself, I know) where a bunch of you are actively participating in a mission and completing a task. A more modern comparison would be several users contributing to a Google Doc at the same time. It’s that level of collaboration!
On this project, Hammerhead worked seamlessly with a full design, project management and content team on the Prenuvo side. While we developed the website, users were actively updating content, proposing page changes, and tracking active bugs. It was like we had been working together for years. It was beautiful!
No Code and Low Code with Webflow
Webflow is touted as a robust no-code platform that empowers designers to create beautiful responsive websites – no developer required. This is somewhat true. Indeed, you are able to create simple, beautiful websites with no code; however, as soon as you enter the world of animations and complex functionality, it quickly transforms into low-code. When you hide a skilled web developer behind the design, you can create some truly unique Webflow experiences. Once stylized elements, blocks and advanced functionality have been added, designers and content team members can take the reins back and work autonomously.
Webflow Bug Tracking with Usersnap
Usersnap allows website testers to quickly and efficiently list bugs, assign tasks to development teams and set priorities for rush tasks. The system also integrates with other production tools like Slack, ClickUp and Microsoft Teams – streamlining communication for managers and teams. Working in WordPress? No problem! There is a plugin solution for adding Usersnap to your website. Looking to reduce plugins? Usersnap can also be added using Google Tag Manager!
