Project Description
The Coquitlam Teachers’ Association is the union of academic professionals serving the Lower Mainland communities of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra. Coquitlam Teachers Association required a responsive membership website.
WordPress Membership Website
The membership aspect of this site required five levels of permissions (including an open level for the general public) and was built using WP Client. We stacked user permissions on top of each other. This means:
- general public users have access to general content
- first level users have access to general content and restricted content 1
- second level users have access to restricted content 1 & 2
- third level users have access to restricted content 1, 2, 3
- forth level users have access to restricted content 1, 2, 3, 4
Members Import
A list of CTA representatives were sent to us in an Excel spreadsheet, which was converted to .CSV format and used as an import list. We utilized the reps SD43 ID number for user ID and generated a secure one-time user passphrase for users to login and update their password. Upon import an email was sent to these new users, which included their temporary credentials and information on how to update their login information.
Digital Marketing
We build the website to be easily searchable by the general public. We used the Yoast SEO plugin to create user-friendly Search Engine Optimization a reality. This plugin grades each page on it’s ability to search engine ranking and readability. In addition Yoast makes suggestions on how the the page rank higher. Finally it explains how content can be structured to help users consume information. We added links to the CTA’s social media channels throughout the website. All users are alerted about upcoming events by an event calendar.
