Bluzelle is an international technology company, with offices in Vancouver and Singapore, which has created a financial network built on blockchain technologies.

The blockchain, similar to the internet, requires applications (or “browsers”) to connect to the network. Bluzelle’s platform builds blockchain applications and provides the network for them to run on. The platform boasts high redundancy, full encryption and fast transactions. This provides the necessary tools for financial companies to access the blockchain in a safe and secure manner.

It was an honour for Hammerhead Technologies to be selected to build the web presence for this next-generation financial network.

Requirements

The solution for Bluzelle had several requirements:

  1. It must explain the company’s product to specific user groups;
  2. It must follow the company’s strict branding, style and content guidelines;
  3. It must have a fully responsive, user-friendly design;
  4. It must perform at the highest standards, and be secure;
  5. It must go from concept-to-launch in one week.

Content is supplied via the Elementor WordPress plugin on the Bluzelle website. Elementor boasts a user friendly drag and drop system, making content entry a breeze!

Implementation

We begin all of our projects off with a kick off meeting and intelligence gathering. Our team worked directly with Bluzelle’s CEO, Pavel Bains, to understand what the company does, and the best way for us to explain the concept to key user groups. Our team approached user experience by creating personas and user stories, and sorted critical content into individual pages. We listed these critical pages in the main navigation, and created “calls to action” for key pages on the homepage. Finally, all non-essential content to the footer navigation to avoid distraction. Our next step was to build the concept into a design following the company’s style guide. The basic design was presented to the Client, it was approved for implementation following one round of revisions.

Custom WordPress Website

The platform we chose for this project is WordPress. WordPress was chosen because it’s extremely user friendly, extendable, perfect for a brochure-style website. The website is built on our custom implementation of roots, foundation press, and underscores frameworks. This custom implementation produces a high performing, responsive template. Content is created and entered through enhanced, user-friendly modules, which we created in Advanced Custom Fields. We supplied a drag and drop page building system with Elementor to assist the Client with content. The most formidable goal of this project was the one week timeline. We achieved the tight turnaround through use of a disciplined, agile project management methodology. This allowed programming and design to occur concurrently. Once the visual components were approved, the framework for the site was already complete, and we were ready for the design elements to be incorporated.

Communication

Communication is critical in order for the success of every project. In this circumstance our main contact point was based overseas in Singapore, which traditionally could create a barrier for communication. We managed this challenge by handling communication through Slack for Business. This frequent managed communication allowed for each member of the team to monitor, track and manage requests as they entered the communication system.

Hammerhead Quality Assurance

Quality Control and Testing are crucial elements of our workflow and mark the end of each of our team’s sprints. As Pavel had been involved in each milestone of development, our team was able to incorporate feedback into the development cycle, reducing the need for long, arduous change requests at the end of a project. These aspects of our methodology allow for the pre-launch period of a project to be expedited, and a refined product ready for launch on approval almost instantaneously.

Conclusion

As part of the launch we hardened the WordPress installation and tested the website on the live server. This ensures the completed project passes web standards for both performance and security. The project launched on schedule and passed all of Bluzelle’s requirements.

Thank you to Pavel, and everyone at Bluzelle, for allowing us to contribute to your success, and promote ground-breaking innovations.
