Project Description

Since 1965, SFU has become Canada’s leading comprehensive university with campuses in British Columbia’s largest municipalities -Vancouver, Burnaby and Surrey. SFU’s vision is to become Canada’s leading university in engagement of students, research, and communities. We were asked to assist with this goal by building the SFU’s Psychology Law Evidence Database in WordPress.

Budget

The Simon Fraser University Psychology Law Evidence Database is a database-driven WordPress website that was created on an extremely tight budget. As a custom solution far exceeded budget requirements, and no theme solution was available at the time for this type of database, we re-purposed the WP Directory theme to meet the budget requirements.

Custom WordPress User Interface

To minimize costs further, we built an extremely user friendly interface with Advanced Custom Fields. We created a custom post type, which allowed up to sort and call the items from the database later. This addition simplifies content creation for article references in the database (sample article) by providing users with a simple form to enter required content for article submission. These alterations allowed the client to enter in the content for the entire site without assistance.

Digital Marketing Research

Simon Fraser University also needed to use this website for data. Users are required to fill out a short form and agreement prior to entering the site. 24 hour access is provided through the use of cookies. This data helps SFU with their content creation, digital marketing, and provides insight to the type of users that are accessing the site.

The site also features a blog that keeps users up-to-date with PLED news.
