JuniorMining.com is all about Mining, Metals and Market Intelligence for the global junior mining and exploration sector. Junior Mining’s products and services provide unique insight that is exclusive to members. Patrick O’Brien, Owner, requested a content-rich, membership site capable of restricting access to different post types for various membership levels. This site was required to process membership payments through PayPal eCommerce. For this core of this build we used the WPMUDEV Membership Plugin to configure access for 4 levels of membership.

Membership and eCommerce

The membership aspect of this website offers much conditional logic. For example, Diamond Exclusive Members have access to Mini-Surveys, News Brief Specials, Global Alerts and Rock-Talk post types in addition to content that is available to Platinum Members. To select which members receive access to content, contributors simply select the user group from a simple check box in the WordPress back-end. Hence contributors can choose from the following Membership Levels (categories):

  • Platinum
  • Diamond Exclusive
  • Corporate Premium
  • Executive Elite

As additional content is available to some user groups, additional navigation should be provided to help users navigate to these membership only sections. Therefore, we have provided conditional logic that displays additional menus and features if a user is logged in. For example, all members receive an additional glossary. To help users access this information, a new menu appears in the side menu and becomes a part of the navigation:

Junior Mining Glossary

The eCommerce aspect of this website is managed through an online form which is accessed via the  membership information page. The client opted out of an SSL certificate for the website, so we send users to PayPal for the payment processing.

Email Marketing

Upon subscription, all member are automatically added to Junior Mining’s monthly newsletter. This subscription is tied into the online form. Once validated through PayPal, the new user is signed up and begins receiving automated newsletters published by Junior Mining.
